Spotlight on Rob: Lead Test Engineer
This month, we’re celebrating a major milestone—Rob’s 5th anniversary at Answer Digital! Over the years, Rob has worked on an impressive range of projects, constantly pushing himself to grow and take on new challenges. Let’s take a moment to learn more about his journey, achievements, and a few fun facts along the way.
Rob’s role in three words
When asked to sum up his job, Rob chose:
Growth, Challenge, Camaraderie
A fitting reflection of his journey so far, from tackling complex projects to building strong connections with his team.
Rob’s journey at Answer Digital
Since joining in 2019, Rob has worked on more projects than he can count! His journey has taken him through:
- Testing a pensions platform in his early days.
- Contributing to the AI-driven FLIP project, helping train models to identify lesions in brain scans.
- Performance testing for Scottish Friendly, ensuring systems run smoothly under pressure.
Through it all, Rob has seen tremendous growth and has no plans of slowing down.
A career milestone to be proud of
One standout achievement for Rob was working with a brain scientist on the FLIP platform, figuring out how to train AI models to detect lesions in brain scans. Seeing the statistical proof that the model worked was a monumental moment—both in terms of technical success and personal growth.
The best thing about the team
Rob has been part of many teams at Answer, but the tight-knit test team stands out. He values the close connections and supportive environment, which fosters not just professional but personal growth too.
An unusual early job
Before Answer, Rob was a sales rep for the first-ever edition of the Raspberry Pi—selling what would become a game-changer in computing and education.
A favourite travel destination
For Rob, Cappadocia, Turkey, takes the top spot. The surreal landscapes and breathtaking photo opportunities make it an unforgettable place to visit.
A surprising fun fact
Rob has eaten Balut—a dish that surprises most people—and actually enjoys it! (If you don’t know what it is… look it up at your own risk!)
How Rob spends his spare time
In no particular order, coding, blogging, and hiking take up most of his free time—keeping both his mind and body active.
A dream job for a day
If he could swap jobs with anyone, Rob would choose Sean Bean, just to land a legendary on-screen death scene in a major film.
Biggest goal for 2025
At the top of Rob’s bucket list for this year? Visiting Japan! Having already traveled to East Asia, he’s eager to explore Japan’s culture, landscapes, and tech scene.
Celebrating Rob
From pioneering AI projects to tackling complex testing challenges, Rob’s five years at Answer Digital have been packed with innovation, growth, and camaraderie. We’re lucky to have him, and we can’t wait to see what the next five years bring!
Happy 5-Year Anniversary, Rob!
