Six Years of Impact, Curiosity and Collaboration: Spotlight on Andy
At Answer Digital, we believe the best innovations happen when talented people bring their whole selves to work—and few embody that better than Andy.
Andy recently celebrated his six-year anniversary at Answer. Over that time, he’s worked across a staggering range of technologies and sectors, bringing his energy, humour, and technical depth to every team he’s joined. From his start in our Java Academy to leading projects in monitoring, full-stack development, and healthcare transformation, Andy’s journey is a brilliant example of what it means to grow with us.
The journey so far
“I’ve been around!” Andy laughs. And he’s not kidding. His Answer timeline is packed: Java Academy → AnswerPay → Team Snake (where he helped spark our very first Python hires) → Splunk monitoring with ITOC → full-stack work at David Lloyd → Answer King → PRM.
The variety is a badge of honour. “I’ve become a jack of a bajillion trades,” Andy says. “And I love it.”
Milestones that matter
One moment stands out: helping launch meta-monitoring at ITOC. By pointing Splunk at itself, Andy and the team uncovered hundreds of improvements. The initiative didn’t just deliver technical gains—it sparked talks, shaped process changes, and showed what happens when curiosity meets action.
But for Andy, the real joy is in the people. “The work is great,” he says, “but the team is the highlight. I’ve worked in teams that gel and teams that don’t. This one does, and it’s a pleasure.”
The music and hobbies
Outside of work, Andy is a whirlwind of creativity and connection. He’s a drummer and guitarist in two metal bands, a techno producer, a gig-goer, a gaming enthusiast, and a photography lover who shares the hobby with his fiancée. Oh, and he knows Pi to 40 decimal places. Naturally.
Asked who he’d trade places with for a day? “Lars Ulrich,” he says without hesitation. “I’d love to drum for Metallica.”
Looking ahead
In 2025, Andy’s aiming high: tackle tech debt on the Orphaned Record Continuity Service, release his band’s long-awaited album, and make more time for family.
We’re so lucky to have Andy on the team—and we can’t wait to see what year seven brings.
